A Mandler design of 7 elements in 5 groups that never changed optically. At f/1.4 it is soft-edged and glowing with very smooth backgrounds, and by f/2.8 it is properly sharp, so it works as two portrait lenses in one. It is the signature close-up lens of Leica R cine sets.
