A big 10-element, 9-group design with a floating element and only one optical version across its run. Wide open it glows and flares, stopped down it matches the Summicrons; it is the scarce, expensive lens that completes a fast R set. Later production came with ROM contacts, which have no effect when adapted.

What it goes on

Fine on mirrorless with a glassless adapter. On full-frame Canon EF bodies the rear lock ring and guard strike the mirror, so EF conversions need the rear machined (Duclos documented this mod); crop bodies and mirrorless avoid the issue.
