The 1994 recomputation (8 elements in 7 groups) swapped the old 48mm filter for E55 and added a built-in sliding hood. It is markedly sharper and more contrasty than the 1970 version, closer to a modern lens in rendering, and is compact at about 310 g. Filmmakers pick it when they want the 55mm front shared with the Summicrons; those chasing a softer look buy the cheaper v1 instead.
