The second version is a simpler 6-element, 6-group design with a built-in hood and E55 thread, replacing the heavier 9-element original. It has the classic Mandler-era signature: a little veiling softness at f/2 that cleans up by f/2.8, warm colour and rounded rendering. Its 0.3 m close focus makes it the workhorse of most Leica R video sets.

What it goes on

Adapts glasslessly to all mirrorless mounts and takes a Leitax EF bayonet without machining. A staple of rehoused R sets (GL Optics, TLS, Whitepoint) and of Simmod-type cine-mods.
