The second version (5 elements in 4 groups) arrived in 1968 with an E55 thread and a slightly revised optical layout that improved contrast wide open over the short-lived Series VII original. It has a built-in sliding hood and a heavy all-metal barrel. It is one of the cheapest Leica R lenses and gives the same warm family rendering at the long end.
