The compact second version kept a 5-element, 4-group layout but dropped the weight from about 1.3 kg to roughly 825 g and moved to a 67mm filter. It is not apochromatic, so high-contrast edges show some colour fringing wide open, but its colour and contrast match the rest of the pre-APO R line. The later APO-Elmarit is sharper and far more expensive.

Glassless adapter to mirrorless or Leitax mount to EF. There is no tripod collar, so use a lens support to take the load off the adapter.
