The second 19mm is a complete redesign (12 elements in 10 groups) that replaced the bulky 82mm-filter original, and it is the one people mean when they put a 19 in an R set. It has a built-in filter turret instead of a front thread and focuses down to 0.3 m. It is noticeably more modern and contrasty than the Mandler-era primes, so it serves as the clean wide end of a vintage R kit rather than a character lens.

What it goes on

Adapts with a glassless R adapter to every mirrorless mount, or via a Leitax bayonet swap to EF. No front filter thread, so plan on a clamp-on matte box or the internal turret; the v2 is preferred for cine-mods because its front is far smaller than the 82mm v1.
