The standard lens of the V system in its second (CF, Prontor-shuttered) generation: a 7-element/5-group Planar with T* multicoating. Sharp with strong micro-contrast from wide open, and its 5-blade iris produces the characteristic pentagon highlights once stopped down. Close focus is a modest 0.9 m; filters are Bay 60 bayonet. It covers 6x6, so every large-format cine sensor sits in the sweet spot of the image circle.

What it goes on

The 74.9mm flange adapts glassless to EF, PL-type, LPL, GFX and all mirrorless mounts. CF lenses have an F position on the shutter ring that keeps the leaf shutter open, and EF-type adapters are built to hold it open for video; the aperture ring is manual and has an EV interlock with the shutter ring that should be left uncoupled. Expect a stiff, long focus throw that benefits from a geared ring.
