A fast 105 built from only five elements in a Xenotar-type layout. Resolution is even across the frame at f/1.8 but wrapped in a light veil of flare, and background blur gets smoother the closer you focus, with aberrations changing little over the focus range. Built-in sliding hood, 9 blades, 140-degree focus throw.

What it goes on

F-mount's 46.5mm flange takes a thin glassless adapter to Canon EF and adapts to every mirrorless mount; the aperture ring is fully mechanical and easy to de-click. Often picked over the 105/2.5 in cine sets for the extra stop and rounder highlights; the 62mm front needs a step-up to match the rest of the kit.
