A five-element short tele that is small for its focal length and keeps the 49mm filter thread. Contrast is modest and highlights bloom a little wide open; stopped to f/4 it is properly sharp. The multi-coated successor is a touch heavier at about 300g with the same 1.2m close focus, which is the main limitation for tight inserts.

What it goes on

M42's 45.46mm flange means a cheap glassless ring puts it on EF and every mirrorless mount. A/M switch to M. Light enough to hang off an adapter without lens support, and the long smooth focus throw suits follow-focus gears.
