Pentax Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135mm f/2.5

This is the first five-element design (product number 43802) with multi-coating added; a reworked six-element version followed and is regarded as the sharper of the two with less colour fringing. Either gives a lot of background compression for very little money, in an all-metal barrel with the usual smooth Takumar helicoid. Do not confuse it with the later budget K-mount 'Takumar (Bayonet) 135/2.5', which is a cheaper lens.

What it goes on

M42's 45.46mm flange means a cheap glassless ring puts it on EF and every mirrorless mount. A/M switch to M. At well over 400g on a thin adapter it benefits from a lens support on small mirrorless bodies.

  M42-EOS flanged ring. Cheap and common. Pick a flanged ring that presses the auto-aperture pin. On full-frame EF DSLRs a few lenses (Helios 44-2, some Takumars) can catch the mirror at infinity.
