Fast retrofocus 24mm (11 elements in 10 groups) with close-range correction. Wide open it is sharp in the centre but veiled by flare, with soft edges and sagittal coma that smears point lights; it cleans up considerably by f/4. The close-range system favours flat subjects up close and leaves slightly nervous background blur at distance. Focus throw is about 80 degrees.

What it goes on

F-mount's 46.5mm flange takes a thin glassless adapter to Canon EF and adapts to every mirrorless mount; the aperture ring is fully mechanical and easy to de-click. Popular in AI-S cine sets because it keeps the 52mm front and matches the speed of the 28/2 and 35/2; a focal reducer on S35 or MFT turns it into a fast normal-wide.
