Small five-element short tele that keeps the 52mm front of the compact primes and weighs half as much as the f/1.4. Rendering is milder and lower in contrast at f/2 than its bigger sibling, sharpening up by f/4, which many people like for faces. A long 170-degree focus throw makes it easy to pull.

What it goes on

F-mount's 46.5mm flange takes a thin glassless adapter to Canon EF and adapts to every mirrorless mount; the aperture ring is fully mechanical and easy to de-click. Chosen for lightweight gimbal or travel sets where the 85/1.4 is too heavy; shares filters and step-up rings with the 24 to 50mm lenses.
