Follow-up to the 1976 FD 85mm f/1.2 S.S.C. Aspherical with the same 8-element/6-group layout in a lighter barrel. Shallow, rounded rendering at f/1.2 with low contrast that snaps in by f/2. Alongside the 24 f/1.4L and 50 f/1.2L it forms the classic FD L portrait-to-wide trio.

  EdMika FD-EF conversion kit (no glass). FD sits 2 mm closer than EF, so a plain adapter loses infinity and glass adapters soften the image. The accepted fix is replacing the mount (EdMika) — or using a mirrorless body, where FD adapts trivially.
