Two-ring constant f/3.5 zoom with 15 elements in 13 groups, long regarded as the best standard zoom in the FD range. Normal close focus is a long 1.5 m, with a separate macro setting at the wide end. Popular as a budget documentary zoom because it matches FD prime colour.

What it goes on

FD sits at a 42 mm flange, 2 mm shorter than EF, so a plain EF adapter loses infinity unless it carries a corrective glass element; the clean fix is a permanent mount swap (EdMika kits, also sold through Simmod). On Sony E, L, RF, Z, X and MFT bodies a simple tube adapter with an aperture-release ring works with no glass. EdMika offers a dedicated bayonet-zoom EF kit for it.
