One of the last lenses made for the system: seven elements in five groups with an aspherical element, a nine-blade iris and close focus of 41cm. It is far faster than the old 75/4.5 and is the sharpest, most modern-looking lens in the lineup, so it sits apart from the vintage glow of the 105. Low production numbers keep prices high.

What it goes on

84.95mm flange adapts to everything. On large-format cinema sensors it is a moderately wide normal; with a Kipon Baveyes-type reducer it becomes roughly a 53mm f/2 on full frame. Needs an adapter with aperture control or the lens's own stop-down lever.
