The first 10:1 zoom for 35mm cinema, introduced in 1963 and responsible for much of the zoom-heavy look of 1960s and 70s films. Much lighter than the later HR version but softer, lower in contrast and prone to veiling flare. It was designed for the Academy frame, so it is listed below Super 35; expect vignetting at the wide end on larger sensors.

What it goes on

Originals came in Arri Standard, BNC/BNCR and Cameflex mounts and most working copies have been converted to PL. Needs lens support; a rear expander is the usual route to Super 35 open-gate coverage.
