A Planar design with a dreamy veil wide open that cleans up quickly by T2. Close focus is relatively long (2ft4in to 2ft6in depending on source). Mk II (1984) and Mk III (1995) share the same optics with a seven-blade iris; the Mk III has larger scales and a geared iris. Designed for the 35mm cine frame, so treat them as Super 35 lenses — they do not cover full frame.

What it goes on

Native PL with 80mm fronts and geared focus (Mk III adds a geared iris), so no rehousing is required; they go on mirrorless cameras with a plain PL adapter. TLS and GL Optics offer rehousings for worn sets, mainly to get longer focus throws and bigger scales.
