Nine elements in eight groups with an aspherical surface and floating group; present from the 1975 launch. AE copies show the saw-tooth "ninja star" iris shape between about f/2 and f/2.8, which MM copies avoid. Shares its DNA with the Zeiss Super Speed era and anchors the fast C/Y set with the 85mm f/1.4.

What it goes on

C/Y flange is 45.5 mm: glassless adapters exist for EF and every mirrorless mount, and Leitax sells a screw-on replacement EF bayonet that Duclos and others use for cine-mods (80 mm front ring, focus gear, de-clicked iris). Focus turns the same way as cine lenses.
