A favourite for close-ups with strongly oval bokeh from the multi-blade iris. Second-generation Soviet 2x anamorphics with the spherical focusing group placed ahead of the cylinders, which makes them sharper, mechanically simpler and less prone to breathing than the earlier square-fronts. Famous for saturated blue streak flares. They cover a Super 35 4:3 area at 2x, not full frame; best around T5.6.

What it goes on

Original mount is OCT-19, which converts cleanly to PL (most rental sets already are) and adapts to mirrorless bodies. Heavy lenses that need rod support; Van Diemen, P+S Technik and others have serviced or rehoused them.
