Cooke Varo-Panchro 20-60mm T3.1

A compact 3:1 zoom sold from 1981 and long treated as a variable prime that intercuts with Speed Panchros. Breathing and chromatic aberration are low for its age and the large front element flares attractively. It covers Super 35, but rental houses recommend a 1.2x expander for open-gate or larger sensors.

What it goes on

Normally found in PL and light enough (about 6 lb) to hand-hold without support on a solid PL mount. A rear expander is the usual route to larger sensors.
